Actually, it is advertised that the Dreambox uses the "standard Linux DVB API". Which is the part that is defective. Saying that "streaming was not an advertised" feature can be compared to a graphics card manufacturer claiming he implements DirectX but claiming that you cannot play games, which was not an advertised feature...
Anyway, these discussions won't help. All I can say, just fix the bugs, please...

I think they don't like it that the posebilities of the DB5620 are the same as for the DB7000 and keep the firmware buggy at some points
but this is what i think... but i hope i'm wrong.. they can profe it when they fix it...

You know them? well thats nice for you..
And i'm not afraid of anything I like it to be good and i think they too..
but they have to much on there head they need to finish first what they have and then try to make new things.
I think the firmware has improved by a hole lot since it can now play
MPEG 1(not good but okey) and MPEG 2 and MP3 but that toke a lot of time too.
An advantage of the HDD I disagree it's overkill because of the network connection on the 7k.
And if they take this forum serious they need to fix something and let people know what the status is about these bug reports...

For now I just post bugs... If there are more reported, more might get fixed.... This a more technical one. I'm writing streaming software currently.
Here we go. At the Demux device, /dev/card0/dvr0, TS packets will appear to be streamed. It might be usefull to know there is some data available, so your read syscall won't block.
For this purpose, Linux has two system calls, poll and select. Unfortunately, they both do not work at all. If you issue them, the result is allways that there is data available (even if you stream 0 pids), but a subsequent read does block.
(Setting the file handle in nonblocking I/O mode works fine though).
I can confirm this bug is, besides this 5620 beta, also present on the DB 7000, using 1.08 firmware. No data on the 7000 beta firmware available.

I'm sorry for earlier this day for making a comment that some people don't like to hear here.
But this is a bug report topic and if you report a bug I think you need to get feedback about this
if only they say its reproduced an we work on it or we see what we can do about it..
Now if you make a bug report you don't hear anything.. and you may think they don't read this..... But to go on
What could be the problem when i try to listen to a radio station
via the web interface with winamp i hear clicking sounds once every two seconds or so. What could be my error?

Major problem with Aston Crypt (Seca) 1.07 & 2.02 module. As soon as the module is inserted in the CI slot (top or bottom slot makes no difference) the picture & sound freeze constantly - viewing is totally impossible. This happens on all channels - FTA and encrypted. I am using an official Canal Digitaal NL smartcard.
The same problem appears with all previous images as well..... I have emailed Dream Multimedia Support about this problem 2 1/2 weeks ago but except for a very short email last week asking me in which slot I inserted the module I get absolutely no answer/reply

I'd like to extend my previus bug-report that I said that the official "Canal Digitaal Mediagaurd" common interface module doesn't work well, with that another Seca2 common interface module doesn't work at all.
I conclude that the CI support of the 5620 is totally broken.

also beim empfang von türksat , sind manche kanäle unter 5000, manche sind sogar 2000 symbolrate , bei einem kanal der zb 4800 Symbolraten hat macht sich der bug bemerkbar mit freezer , aussetzer , und unter 3000 empfängt es garnicht .
natürlich habt ihr das problem nicht weil das im astra nicht der fall ist , da ist die nidrigste SR vileicht 22500 SR. |

hi leute
binn ja suuper zufrieden mit meinen babys 7000er un 5620
wollte nur wieder mal fragen wanns was neues fuer die kleine gibt zwecks aufnahme (treiber problem ruckler)
hoffe doch es kommt noch troz verkaufsschluss der 5620er
500 hatt ja gleiches prob oder?

Hallo,
ich habe mal versucht, die 5620 über den Truegrid NFS-Server an ein Windows Laufwerk zu mounten. Der Mount-Befehl funktioniert einwandfrei, die Windows-Dateien sind sichtbar. MP3-Wiedergabe geht auch.
Wenn ich mpg-Filme abspielen möchte, bleibt die Box nach ca. 2sec komplett hängen und reagiert nicht einmal auf die Fernbedienung. Nach ca. 10 sec läuft der Film weiter und das ganze beginnt von vorne.
Anschließend habe ich das ganze noch mit dem Windows SFU NFS-Server getestet (Version 3.5), hier sind die Ruckler noch viel stärker

Echt ergerlich dieses Problem
Hab mich extra ne zweite Spiegel montiert um BN R.Srpska (Eutelsat W2 - 16.0°E - 12693 V - FEC 1/2 - SR 3797) zu bekommen, und sehe da, Kein Emfang 
Ne ganz stinknormal FTA Receiver für 30.- € beim Real bekommt die rein
Alle andere Dreambox gehen. wieso dieses nicht ?
Wo bleibt den da ne update ?

mach Dir bloss keine Hoffnung auf Hilfe oder Antworten in dem Board. Scheint mir hier eher ein Spassboard zu sein, da kommt einfach keine Antwort, so leid es mir tut, da ich ja selbst davon betroffen bin.

hab dem dream service ne mail darauf geschrieben das ich BN R.Srbska mit der niedrigen symbolrate nicht reinkriege und das war die antwort vom 09.03.05

dies scheint ein Softwareproblem zu sein. Werde es der der Entwicklung weiterreichen. Warten sie bitte auf neue Software.

Wenn Du einmal im Board suchst, dann gibt es das Problem wohl schon länger! Hab Beiträge vom letzten Jahr gefunden, wo dieses Problem schon bestand, sonst wäre ich nicht so erbost, aber wahrscheinlich ärger ich mich über mich selbst, dass ich zu der Box gegriffen habe.
