Picture disappearing ?
Hi!
Approx. 1 year ago I bought my DM7025, and have been quite satisfied with it... But a couple of weeks ago, it started to suddenly loose the picture (and sound!) on my TV ?? Both the SCART output and the output on the Phono connectors are blank/quiet.
The box seems to run okay, I can SSH to it, the web interface is working - streaming to VLC is working...
A way to get the picture back, is to power off/on the box (doing it on the remote control is sufficient)....
Could this be a thermal problem ? I've tried to "feel" the temperature on the box, and it seems quite warm on the left side (where the PSU is located), and a warm in the middle (just over where the HDD is located).
Any ideas on what to do ?? The DM7025 has apporx. 8 cm of free air above it, so the heat should be able to get away. The receiver is located on a glass shelf (which is approx. 5 cm over my AV receiver). This setup has been working without problems until a couple of weeks ago...

Some people have the same problem, as described here:
TV Schaltet immer von AV1 weg
Changing the power supply for the new version should most likely help.
I can see, that I can order a new power supply at hm-sat-shop - but how can I make sure that I'm getting a new version PSU (and that it isn't the old version) ? - Are there any way to spot the difference between the two versions ?

If you bought your box 1 year ago, there is still warranty on it. Send it back to dream multimedia and you will get back a proper box.
Box 1: Dreambox 7025 incl. Lüfter mit 250 GB HDD
Box 2: ClarkeTech HD5000 mit 500 GB
TV: Panasonic TH42PV7F
I bought the DM7025-ST at HM Sat Shop (Germany) - I believe I should return the box to them, and then they will take care of it ??
I've tried to send an email to Dream Multimedia support - but it doesn't seem like they are very fast at answering...
On the other hand - sending it to Germany with proper insurance might as well be just as expensive to order a new power-supply...

I seem to have the same problem with my 7025

I can see all menus, all OSD's messages etc and change channels too, but I cannot get any picture/sound from satellites. Is your case exactly the same or do you loose all signal from Scart?

No the exact same problem. I loose picture and sound on SCART and on the phono-plugs. I tried to remove my harddisk from the box, but that didn't solve the problem.
The problem often occur if I swicth to a channel on my DVB-T tuner after have been watching a SAT-channel for e..g 15-20 minutes... After 30-120 seconds I get a blank picture on my TV - and no sound..

Is your TV Panasonic? If so, have look at this thread

No - mine is a 32" Philips LCD TV .... But it is not only the SCART signal, that disappears - also the signal on the Phono-plugs - and the picture on the UHF modulator (which is distributed to another TV in my home)

Could it be memory issue? My problem could be. I installed
[Moderator] Image is in violation of the Boardrules [/Moderator] and set 64MB swapfile on hard disc three days ago and I have not lost picture/sound since - knock knock. Depending on what image you have there could be swapfile option for you too. Give it a try.

RE: Picture disappearing ?
I've tried to install the original Enigma2 image from Dream Multimedia - same problem (have been running [Moderator] Image is in violation of the Boardrules [/Moderator]otherwise)...

I do have similar problems. I have a Dreambox 7025 with one DVB-S and one DVB-T tuner. Coverage of DVB-T is very poor in my area.
If I tune to a DVB-S channel I have a good picture. Next I zap to a DVB-T channel which has poor coverage. The tuner tries to get in sync but gives up. Then I zap back to the DVB-S channel and I have no picture at all. I can zap further to other channels, and no picture. The only way to get a picture again is to reboot the box.
It looks like the poor DVB-T signal messes something-up in the MPEG decoder from which only a reboot can recover.

The indicator for SNR (signal strength) on my DVB-T receiver says 99% - don't know if it can be used for anything (if it actually reports something like the signal quality/strength). But my TV has also built-in DVB-T, and it has no problems with the DVB-T signal.
I suspect, that the issue is related to the power-supply. - My box has been sent back to the dealer for testing/repair. Hopefully they will change the PSU, so the box gets working again...

After digging my problem I think now that I have the same problem. I have weak signal for Thor 1W and if I stay away from Thor picture/sound will not disappear and I can use those other three satellites without problems.
First I though that my problem was memory issue, but swap file didn't help for long. Then I though about heat problem and installed two fans inside the box. Only difference was the noise of those fans, so I took them out.
So could weak signal kill MPEG decoder to state that reboot is the only cure? Restart of Enigma2 is not enough.
I have the same problem with weak signals.
If i zap on Nilesat where the signal is marginal the box will give up trying to bring a picture after a while.
Only solution is to reboot the box to get the picture back.
My box is built April, 2007 so it got the new PSU.
RE: Picture disappearing #2
I opened a thread under bug-reports. I think that is where this item belongs. See "
Dreambox hangs when signal is poor ". Lots of people seem to have the same problem. Hopefully DreamMulimedia will work on it, and give it priority.

RE: Picture disappearing #2
Hi
I got my box back from repair (it got a new power-supply)... But now another problem shows up.... Sometimes the DVB-T pictures freezes... If I check the signal level/quality, it drops to 0-10% SNR and BER over 15000 .. often it returns to 88-98% SNR - and BER 0 (AGC 50%) ...
Before, the SNR was constantly on approx 98% ... I wonder why it suddenly has started to act like this...
My TV (which also has a DVB-T receiver) does not have this problem with a freezing picture - so I'm pretty sure, that the problem is related to the DM7025 box...
Have anyone else observed a similar problem ?
